The San Francisco Museum of Modern Art approached McCall Design Group to help extend its successful specialty design goods retail business to a new location at the San Francisco International Airport. This new satellite store would capitalize on the success of its parent by bringing some part of the museum experience to the airport while giving busy travelers who cannot visit SFMOMA firsthand, the opportunity to purchase art-related merchandise in a museum-inspired setting.

The airport store echoes the distinguishing characteristics of the museum: clean and simple lines, refined lighting, pristine white walls, and Botta's signature graphic banding. Striped flooring and subtly striped frosted glass cases elaborate on the theme, while backlit painted glass with maple wood trim and accents recall the iconic striped granite columns of the museum.
